Last month, I had the opportunity to address the Las Vegas chapter of the Interaction Design Foundation on why some problems matter more. This was a deep dive into one of the topics in the Design Leadership series, Design Discovers Valuable Problems. In this talk, I led participants through a workshop style presentation to think through how to find the problems that are worth your time and energy to chase.

Data Models Clarify Users’ Mental Models

Data Models describe what will form the basis of the structure of the product. During the second phase of Goal-Directed Design (GDD), the team creates models describing the data from their research. One of the most critical is the persona which describes the users. Data Models are another and describe how the users’ mental models integrate together.
